All cities appreciate the sacrifices their first responders make every day. But when those emergency workers go above and beyond, they often get special recognition.
In Tallahassee, a communications officer with the Florida Highway Patrol, a volunteer firefighter, and a Tallahassee police officer recently rescued a 1-year-old boy from an overturned car that had caught fire.
Unfortunately, the baby’s mother did not survive.
However, the city has recognized the bravery of the three first responders by giving them honorary keys to the city as part of a new program.
At the ceremony, Mayor Andrew Gillum said they represent “the very best of the Tallahassee community.”
