When veterans pass away with no family members around, they can be overlooked for the posthumous honors they’ve earned. Civic-minded organizations are attempting to correct these oversights.

Two Korean War veterans from Danbury, Connecticut, recently received burial with military honors and the Connecticut Wartime Service Medal. George L. Duefield and Jack A. Lunich died in 2005 and 2008 respectively, and neither man’s remains were claimed.

Local vets attended the service for Duefield and Lunich to honor the connection service members share.

The Missing in America Project tracked down the original resting places of the two Connecticut vets and ensured they received full processions and military honors. The organization operates nationally and has arranged military burials for the remains of nearly 3,000 vets.

Thanks for watching, and we’ll see you next time.
