First responders work every day to keep their communities safe, so when these brave individuals or their families fall on hard times, it’s comforting to think they’ll be taken care of.

The Massachusetts State Police Department has introduced a new license plate design to raise funds for first responders and family members in times of need. While the license plate was spearheaded by a single agency, the assistance will go to emergency personnel in many different roles, including police officers, firefighters or EMTs.

For $40, Bay State motorists can receive a license plate sporting the image of a state trooper’s hat and the words “protect and serve.” The plates are a visible way for drivers to show their support for a good cause.
