It’s never too late or too soon to recognize and award veterans for their service. Generation-spanning honors highlight the tradition of service that stretches back throughout the country’s history. One such ceremony recently took place in New Jersey.

As part of a veterans outreach event, Brigadier General Michael Cunniff of the New Jersey National Guard awarded the New Jersey Distinguished medal to a group of former service members who served in a long list of conflicts that span eras. Family members were on hand to collect medals for late veterans who served as far back as World War I.

Also represented at the ceremony were participants in World War II, the Korean War, Operation Desert Storm and the recent Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Thanks for watching, and we’ll be back soon with more news about veterans and first responders.
