It’s always difficult to hear about a family that can’t afford warm coats for the winter. Sadly, that’s the situation some of our nation’s veterans find themselves in. Donation drives are out to help fix this.

A Chicago-area Operation Stand Down program is actively seeking donations of warm winter wear that will go to vets and family members who don’t have the means to purchase their own this winter.

The drive is part of a bigger effort to make sure military members get back on their feet when returning from service.

Clothing drives for those in need have taken on a slightly different form in recent years, as the increasing number of women in the military has necessitated more donations of female clothing. The Chicago drive is set to run through Veterans Day.

Thanks for watching, and we’ll see you next time.
