Veterans with PTSD face a long and difficult road to recovery, but many groups exist to help them along that path.

Some have found a lot of success in connecting vets with abused animals, so they can help each other recover.

One such program associated with the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center recently started pairing troubled vets with horses that had been seized from a breeding center.

The horses were starved, neglected, and depressed after being taken from a Connecticut facility, but working with PTSD-stricken vets has brought many of the 32 seized back to health.

Meanwhile, the veterans themselves find the work and even the relationships they develop with the horses calming and extremely beneficial.
