Veteran homelessness is a nationwide problem many are trying to stamp out. That’s certainly the case in Sacramento, where one organization recently helped hundreds of homeless vets.

Stand Down for Homeless Veterans recently held a three-day event in California’s capital to help former service members.

There, they received access to health care, dental work, and housing services that they’ve potentially never had before.

Officials say the biggest issue vets face is that they don’t know what kinds of benefits may be available to help them get off the streets.

A number of companies donated to the event, and many of the volunteers were veterans themselves.

The more that can be done to assist vets in their time of need, the more easily veteran homelessness can be eradicated.
