If you’re a post-9/11 veteran, chances are you’ve heard about the GI Bill, but you might be wondering how to take advantage of it, or if you even qualify. Check out this helpful information concerning the program to see if you’re eligible to benefit from its resources.
Firstly, you’re eligible for the GI Bill if you’ve had at least 90 days of aggregate active-duty service after Sept. 10, 2001, and are still an active-duty servicemember. You also qualify if you were discharged honorably or with a combat-related injury after at least 30 days.
If you qualify and would like to participate, you must make an irrevocable election for the Post-9/11 GI Bill. This means that you’re choosing to collect these benefits, and you can’t switch back to other GI Bills once you’ve started receiving them.
