Government officials are always trying to find new ways to fund veterans programs, but it’s not always easy to find room in the budget.
However, seven such programs in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, recently got the good news that they would receive a combined total of nearly $366,000 from the County Council.
The council originally created a Veteran Services Fund in 2012, and since 2013 has paid out some $1.5 million to help vets.
This year, the extra money will go to pay for scholarships at local colleges, provide legal services, help homeless vets get on their feet again, and more.
Previously, leftover money from the county’s Veterans Service Commission just went into the general fund, but it now goes directly toward helping former service members.
