Welcome back to our series on your health care as you transition to civilian life. Last time, we discussed the Transition Assistance Management Program, which expires after 180 days. Today, we’ll be discussing the long-term option TRICARE in addition to AFBA’s supplemental plan.
TRICARE coverage is offered to all retired military servicemembers, their spouses and their dependents. Some members of the National Guard and Reserve are also eligible for coverage under TRICARE Reserve.
AFBA offers a supplement to the TRICARE plan. These additional benefits are currently being used by over 100,000 military families. The supplement pays your cost share and prescription drug copays in addition to your applicable excess charges. If you’re a retired military member entitled to retired, retainer or equivalent pay, you qualify for this program. Check out AFBA’s website to see if your family does as well.
