Greetings, and welcome to our series on celebrities who also served in the U.S. Military. As a servicemember, you know how close the veteran community is. Learning about the unexpected armed forces pasts of your favorite superstars is a great way to feel closer to your favorite famous people.

Although he’s now known for his rapping and acting skills, Ice-T was once a soldier in the U.S. Army. He went by Tracey Marrow back then, and served from 1979 to 1983 before he was honorably discharged and went on to pursue his creative career.

If you’re like many people, it doesn’t feel like Christmas until you watch the classic holiday film “It’s a Wonderful Life.” You may not have realized, however, that the film’s star, Jimmy Stewart, is a military veteran. Stewart served during World War II and officially retired from the service in 1968.

Thanks for watching!
