As more groups across the country move to tackle the widespread problem of veteran unemployment, both public and private organizations host job fairs to connect these people with employers.

This is certainly the case in Connecticut, where a recent job fair at the University of Bridgeport was specifically focused on getting full-time work for former service members.

Private companies – some of which work hard to make sure they employ a large number of vets – and public organizations like the U.S. Postal Service had positions available.

The job fair was open to all vets whether they needed a full-time job or simply wanted to change career paths.

In all, more than thirty-five employers were in attendance, allowing veterans to view a number of options.

The good news is that these kinds of efforts should help bring down the veteran unemployment rate, which remains critically high.
