The V-A has come under serious scrutiny in recent years, often due to the huge wait times veterans can face when they need even the most basic health care.

However, the V-A in is now trying to change that.

Its Palo Alto, California, health system recently partnered with MinuteClinic, a chain of small walk-in clinics found in many CVS stores.

Under the agreement – a one-year pilot program – veterans who have basic treatment needs, but don’t want to deal with the V-A’s infamous logjams, will have more options.

If successful, this program could be expanded nationwide. While only 14 MinuteClinics are in the pilot, the brand has more than 1,110 locations in 32 states nationwide.
