Hello and welcome. Today, we’ll be discussing family life during military service. Protecting your country is a noble career choice, and it comes with difficult sacrifices. When it comes to deployments, you may struggle to explain the temporary separation to your children.
Use these tips to have a productive conversation with your kids before you head overseas.
One of the most important elements of this conversation is honesty. Be as open as you can with your children regarding your new location, duties, Internet and phone access and when you expect to return home. Together, look at a map of the world to find the country you’re deploying to – being as clear as possible will strengthen your relationship.
