Welcome back!

Veterans working with civilians learn quickly that it can seem like they’re speaking two different languages.

We’re here to help with the translation.

American servicemembers are some of the best trained in the world, but it can be hard to explain your educational achievements in a job interview without civilian equivalents.

Here are a few to get things started.

Instead of saying Advanced Individual Training, call it a career field-specific advanced skills course.

An Officer Advanced Course would translate to an entry level management training course, while a command college or war college would be considered senior and executive leadership programs.

Helping civilians understand your qualifications and level of education can be frustrating, but it can do your job search a whole lot of good.

So press on, continue the fight, and you will prove yourself capable.

Thank you for joining us.
